Purchasing Manager

This is a newly created senior role for an experienced Procurement professional to join an engineering team in Albury.  You will be required to have a thorough understanding of purchasing including international inbound supply chain logistics. 

You will be responsible to ensure all stakeholders are serviced in the procurement of all goods and services. You will need to work independently and as part of a team and work on several projects concurrently. Dealing with changing priorities and varying demands will be a frequent activity.
The person
The successful candidate will have at least 4 years' experience and or qualifications in purchasing / logistics / inventory management preferably from a manufacturing environment. Defence experience would be highly regarded. 

Proven experience in working with MRP systems and good Microsoft Office skills is essential. You will have a high level of attention to detail and have excellent organisation and communication skills. 

Project management and problem solving skills will be well regarded.  APICS certification or Certificate III in Purchasing is a definite advantage but not essential.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
  • Direct materials procurement – management of purchase orders, working with the MRP process to meet production requirements
  • Maintenance of purchasing master data to ensure MRP runs effectively for purchased parts
  • Resolution of vendor supply issues
  • Supporting new product development and cost reduction sourcing activity
  • Management of supply quality conformance
  • Support inventory management – including reduction/optimization
  • Contribute to process improvements via input into LEAN and Kaizen activities
Lastly, you will need to carefully build internal and external relationships to ensure stakeholder engagement across the business.
