Operations Manager Required for Locally Recognised Transport Business
Our Client is searching for an Operations Manager to oversee a very successful and proud local business. They are wanting someone to build and develop the staff, drive smooth and efficient transport planning and operations, be friendly but firm, a customer liaison, a problem solver, and a team player.
The business has a continually growing fleet of 20 well maintained prime movers and 40 trailers ranging from B-Double Tautliners, Skels, Low Loaders, Flat Tops and more recently Road Train Skels.
This is a senior position in the company reporting directly to the Owner/Director with overall responsibility for all operations, working with our customers , to our drivers, admin staff, and our mechanical team.
You are an experienced Operations Manager, with recent transport industry experience and looking for a career challenge in a family owned and highly regarded business.
Highly disciplined and organised, able to co-ordinate the resources of a busy operation;
Daily allocation of drivers and vehicles to service network;
Managing the driver group ensuring they are meeting both NHVL regulations and are operating to company standards;
Passionate about Safety and Compliance standards including building a safety culture within the team;
A leader by example, who takes a collaborative approach to managing, coaching and developing others;
Profit and loss accountability and reporting to management;
Ensure compliance of Transport Management System (TMS), business applications and technology use by drivers;
Strong communication and decision making skills - analytical, written and verbal;
Experience in managing productive customer relationships;
Qualifications & experience
5 years plus, experience as a Fleet Supervisor/Manager within a similar environment
Working knowledge of Work Health and Safety legislation
Effective communication skills – written and verbal
Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills – Excel, Word, and Outlook
Capability to work within a team environment and autonomously
Strong organisation and planning skills
