Music Tutor/Educator

Position purpose
Our Client, Murray Conservatorium is a not-for-profit organisation with the vision to Enrich Lives and Communities through Quality Music Education. Engaging suitably qualified, experienced Music Tutors is essential to achieving their purpose. The primary role of Music Tutors at Murray Conservatorium is to provide the best possible education and duty of care for each student.

Main Tasks
• Participate in professional learning provided by Murray Conservatorium
• Work in a team and also independently to develop curriculum, lesson plans and educational resources using Murray Conservatorium’s framework
• Preparation for lessons (eg printing, collecting equipment from the Conservatorium, etc.)
• Deliver workshops, concerts and ongoing programs that meet NESA Syllabus outcomes
• Deliver to a diverse range of students including those with disabilities and/or behavioural differences. Deliver to indigenous students and those from a culturally and linguistically diverse background
• Complete surveys of students, teachers and stakeholders to ascertain satisfaction ratings and identify opportunities for engagement
• Complete administrative tasks pertaining to the job (eg, printing, completing rolls, communicating with admin and management)
• Complete mandatory annual child protection training, which is provided by Murray Conservatorium
• Comply with Murray Conservatorium policies and procedures
• Communicate and promote the organisation to schools and other stakeholders
• Work cohesively with others to achieve strategic objectives
• Writing reports and assessments
• Travel to remote locations may be required for remote schools
• Reflect and assess effectiveness of your own teaching and seek continuous improvement
• Deliver programs face-to-face and online
• Other duties as required The above list is not exhaustive, and the role may change to meet the overall objectives of the company
Core objectives include:
• High quality, reliable delivery of music education through face-to-face delivery and online tuition
• Delivery of music education meeting NESA Syllabus outcomes to large groups of participants, usually in a classroom setting
• Increased quality and quantity of delivery of music education to NSW Public School students, particularly in rural, regional and remote locations
• Delivery of education programs both face-to-face and online
• To contribute to a highly professional, engaged, energetic team of music educators to deliver quality music education across NSW

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications and Experience
• Music performance degree with one year of teaching experience or;
• Music Education degree or;
• Master of Music Therapy
• NSW and VIC Working With Children Checks (essential)
• Driver’s Licence and own transport/car (essential)
Skills and Competencies
• Ability to work well alone and also in a team, both with direction and using initiative
• Stakeholder focused: committed to providing exceptional service across all channels
• Ability to use Zoom and other online teaching platforms
• Excellent planning and organisation skills and the ability to plan and prioritise workloads in order to meet deadlines
